Airport Development Manager - Transformation

Purpose of the role


At IAG GBS, we are passionate about improving customer’s airport experience through innovative ideas and the use of technology. We are constantly striving towards our goal of continual improvement of the services we provide.  What makes this role special is the opportunity to take significant accountability to support transforming the experience IAG provides to clients in terms of overall airport services such as hotels, fuel, transportation, grounds and lounges etc.  


You will act as an integral part of our Worldwide Transformation Procurement Team working on the frontline by utilising and building on your previous experience and liaising with high level stakeholders across the globe to discuss new/disruptive technologies to be deployed with a view to streamline IAG Operations. You will be tech focussed, bringing strategic recommendation to the table that allow us to transform the Group cost base, drive efficiencies, contribute to the Group's sustainability goals, and enhance customer experience. 


You will make an impact in this role by…

  • Bringing industry trends, competitors agendas and strategic partners disruptive technology to inform the business changes to the attention of the appropriate senior stakeholders and leadership team, with proposed strategic options for IAG. 

  • Driving airports automation and digitisation agenda from research to implementation

  • Strengthening our relationship with airports globally, aligned with our commercial teams, to understand their individual technology roadmaps, identify areas for collaboration and drive transformation.  

  • Identifying and driving areas for intra and inter Group synergies, in close cooperation with the Group's senior management.  

  • Building a strong technology network of incumbent and potential suppliers with game-changing new tech/entrants.  

  • Keeping the IAG Airports Team informed on the latest developments in airport technology, including innovations made by airports, airlines, suppliers, and other stakeholders.  

  • Representing IAG at airport technology conferences and exhibitions and initiate and help manage our relationships with existing/potential suppliers. 


To achieve in this role, you are likely to have…

  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to build lasting relationships and influence various seniority levels  

  •  Drive change, preferably having gained expertise with industry organisations such as IATA, ICAO, ACI and SITA 

  • Have previous experience in transformation/change management designing, selection and implementation of technologies solutions, impacting people, processes and policies 

  • Hold proven expertise and deep understanding in one of the following: Automation (Robotics, Autonomous systems), AI, Blockchain, Hyper Automation, Intelligent things and Cloud 

  • Have strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate, analyse and solve problems 

  • Be fluent in English, with a working knowledge of Spanish an asset 

  • Have demonstrated a track record of delivering presentations to high level stakeholders
